The Darlot mine is located about 900 km northeast of Perth and 121 km north of Leonora, in the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Underground Manager, the Senior Mine Surveyor is responsible for contributing to achieving production and development targets across all mining and site operations by delivering comprehensive survey control services that align with internal standards for accuracy, safety, and environmental compliance. The position will be offered on an 8:6 or 4:3 FIFO roster from Perth .
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, oversee, and implement robust survey memos, mining instructions and emergency plans that are aligned with approved engineering mine plans, mining schedules, and Life of Mine (LOM) objectives.
* Ensure that development and production schedules are achieved through accurate survey work by applying due diligence and ensuring the care, calibration and maintenance of survey equipment. Ensure minimal disruption to mining activities with proactive preparation and time management.
* Collaborate closely with geotechnical engineers to assist in stability analyses through identifying ground control and mine design non‑conformance, ensuring operational safety and integrity.
* Generate quality reports through the input of physicals on a regular basis, highlighting actual mining positions against the budgeted mining schedule, to identify improvement opportunities and inform strategic decision‑making.
* Ensure strict adherence to Australian mining regulations, safety standards and environmental requirements. Proactively manage operational risks by implementing effective risk mitigation measures and regularly auditing compliance.
* Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, cost‑effectiveness and productivity. Lead initiatives and projects aimed at introducing innovative mining methods, new technologies or process improvements.
* Provide technical guidance, training and mentoring to junior surveyors and technical personnel, ensuring professional growth and maintaining consistently high technical standards across the team.
* Supervise and audit survey activities to ensure procedural and safety standards are achieved.
* Actively engage with engineering, mine operations, maintenance, geology, scheduling and management teams to coordinate plans, schedules and operational activities, fostering alignment towards achieving company‑wide objectives.
Qualifications
* Hold a bachelor's or diploma level qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
* Extensive experience within mining operations, ideally with exposure to underground mining environments.
* Grade 1 Authorised Mine Surveyors Certificate (highly desirable).
* Demonstrated ability to lead and manage surveying operations within an underground mining environment.
* Completion of the minimum requirements of Section 26 statutory requirements.
* Proficient in remote sensing, terrestrial survey networks, global positioning systems and remotely piloted aircraft systems.
* Proficient in the use of MS Office suite, Pronto, INX suite, Deswick or similar platform.
* Certificate IV Frontline Management or Project Management (desirable).
* WA Driver's License (manual C Class).
