Primary objective
Manage the ministerial and secretariat functions between the Department and Northern Territory Parliamentary offices.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Be a key point of contact for parliamentary responses, Legislative Assembly briefings, and the Estimates Committee.
2. Provide high-level advice and quality assurance for the department in preparing parliamentary correspondence,
secretariat communications, Legislative Assembly protocols, and schedules.
3. Manage the Secretariat work unit to ensure accurate and effective service delivery.
4. Ensure best practice through training and mentoring of departmental staff.
5. Evaluate and develop practical solutions relating to secretariat systems and processes to ensure effective service delivery.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience working in a ministerial liaison and providing efficient support and accurate advice in relation to
government, Cabinet and political processes.
2. Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to influence and negotiate successful outcomes.
3. Demonstrated ability to accurately edit complex briefings, such as ministerial and Cabinet correspondence, responses to
Parliamentary questions and speech notes, with a high attention to detail.
4. High-level of acumen and confidentiality to operate in a political environment.
5. Established leadership capabilities to manage a team and corporate functions to meet organisational needs and
expectations.
6. Experience in dealing with matters of a confidential and sensitive nature.
7. Proven ability to evaluate and develop processes and procedures to deliver effective business outcomes.
8. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
1. Demonstrated experience in providing high-level advice on the functions of the unit.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
