CELOTTI WORKFORCE
is seeking a Control Systems Engineer - Automation for a full-time permanent opportunity to join a well-established, global leader in advanced airfield ground lighting and integrated airside automation solutions.
This organisation delivers mission-critical infrastructure that ensures safe, compliant and highly reliable airport operations across major domestic and international aviation environments.
The Perth-based engineering team plays a key role in the delivery, commissioning and lifecycle support of safety-critical automation and control systems within regulated aviation environments. The business promotes strong collaboration, technical excellence and supportive leadership.
About the Project
This position will support a nationally significant aviation infrastructure program involving advanced control, monitoring, Airfield and power distribution systems.
The works include integration of high-reliability control architectures, HV/LV electrical systems, airfield lighting circuits and centralised monitoring platforms operating within strict operational and compliance frameworks.
About the Role
The Control Systems Engineer will be responsible for the operation, optimisation and lifecycle support of airfield lighting control and monitoring systems (ALCMS) and associated Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) infrastructure.
You will ensure safe, compliant and highly available runway and taxiway lighting operations through robust automation logic, safety interlocks and real-time monitoring systems. The role requires close coordination with Air Traffic Control (ATC), Aerodrome Operations and Maintenance teams in live operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and optimise ALCMS platforms, PLC-based control systems and SCADA interfaces
* Configure and manage interlocking logic for runway lighting modes, stop-bar controls and brightness step sequencing
* Monitor system performance and implement structured alarm management strategies
* Conduct root-cause analysis of faults including open circuits, insulation degradation, CCR anomalies and communication failures
* Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximise system availability
* Perform periodic compliance testing including: Stop-bar interlocks, Runway/taxiway mode validation, Constant Current Regulator (CCR) calibration, Photometric testing program support
* Participate in FAT, SAT and live operational cutovers within safety-critical environments
* Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and participate in on-call rotation where required
* Deliver training and technical guidance to ATC, operations and maintenance personnel
This is a site-based role suited to an engineer looking to deepen their experience within globally significant, high-availability aviation infrastructure.
Our Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in electrical, Controls/Automation, Electronics, or related engineering discipline.
* 3–5+ years hands‐on experience with ALCMS/AGL or mission‐critical control systems in regulated environments (aviation, maritime, transportation, utilities, defence etc.).
* Strong Technical knowledge of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) components and series‐circuit behaviour: CCRs, isolation transformers, light fixtures, connectors, cable, and stop-bar controls.
* Competence in networking for industrial control systems: Ethernet, VLANs, fibre, redundancy (RSTP/MRP), firewalls, and secure remote access.
* Experience with PLC and SCADA systems in high‐availability environments
* Ability to read/create Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, cable schedules, network drawings, and produce clear technical documentation.
* Experience with FAT/SAT, commissioning, and live operational cutovers with safety‐critical interlocks.
* Current construction white card and valid WA driver's license.
* Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations
* Ability to effectively liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and engineers
* A proactive approach and willingness to work within multidisciplinary teams
Experience in Automation, PLC, SCADA and/or Airfield environment will be highly regarded.
