Role Purpose

Our ATSILS Ipswich Office is looking for a dedicated Paralegal/Junior Legal Practitioner to join our Family and Civil Law Team. As one of Queensland's largest legal practices, we offer a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a supportive and collaborative environment. As a Paralegal, you will provide high quality support services in a busy team environment, and/or as a Junior Legal Practitioner you will provide Paralegal duties and legal assistance to clients primarily in the Family and Civil Laws jurisdiction. This role supports a handful of Family and Civil Law Legal Practitioners, working from our Ipswich Office.

About You

Depending on your studies, experience, qualifications, and attainment of a Practising Certificate, you will have an opportunity to prepare casework and provide assistance directly to clients – albeit under the direction and guidance of an experienced Practitioner. The development of culturally safe legal services is inherent in this role, so you will likely achieve a degree of confidence in this specialist area. Ideally we seek candidates with strong organisational, administrative and support skills. Newly or nearly admitted candidates must be aware that considerable paralegal duties using information technology and in-person service form the bulk of this role. You must be the holder (or be eligible for immediate application) of a current Queensland Government Blue Card prior to commencing work.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engage directly with clients daily, providing highly confidential legal and administrative support to Legal Practitioners in Family Law and Civil Law casework in Courts or Tribunals, including scheduling and follow‐through on appearances in appropriate jurisdictions (including Domestic Violence applications, Family Law matters, Child Protection matters, Wills and Estates). 2. Manage your own workflows independently, working without the pressure of billable hours to support a healthy work‐life balance. 3. Enjoy flexible working hours and a family‐friendly atmosphere, with generous salary packaging options exclusive to public beneficiary organisations, plus superannuation and additional benefits. 4. Access free Continuing Professional Development (CPD) facilities and participate in a comprehensive Workforce Development Strategy.
