ABOUT THE ROLE

* Full Time Fixed Term
* Band 6: $94,663 + 12% Superannuation
* 12-month Parental Leave replacement - commencing June 2026

Are you passionate about communication and community engagement? Do you have a flair for creating compelling marketing materials, managing social media, and driving internal communications? If so, we'd love to hear from you!

We are seeking a Communications and Engagement Officer to join our dynamic team. In this rewarding role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality marketing and communications initiatives that benefit the community. You will have the opportunity to work across multiple areas of the organisation, developing a broad range of skills while supporting both internal and external engagement strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide timely and accurate information to the community via social media.
* Accurately and promptly maintain, monitor and update Council website content.
* Provide community engagement support and expertise to colleagues throughout the organisation.
* Prepare media releases, advertisements and promotional support material for Council events and services.
* Assist and review the design and publication of Council documents for a range of audiences.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented individual with a passion for communication and community engagement. You will have:

* Tertiary qualifications in communications or engagement, or journalism, or relevant experience in a communications environment with proven writing skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience dealing with the media in a political environment.
* Experience in content creation, marketing materials, and social media management.
* Graphic design skills (experience with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite is a plus).
* Strong organisational and time management abilities.
* A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
