ABOUT THE ROLE
As Reporter, you'll be responsible for creating compelling content across all of AFL Media's publishing platforms including day to day news, analysis, features and commentary.
We're looking for someone who can deeply engage fans of all levels in NSW and ACT, and those around the country who support Sydney-based teams. As well as covering the AFL and AFLW, this role will also cover grassroots footy and the growing fan-base in this emerging market.
The successful candidate will have a passion for storytelling in a digital-first environment, and be comfortable working independently and as part of the broader editorial team. This role is based in Sydney.
We will be closed for our annual closure period from December, returning January. Over this closure period, applications will not be responded to during this time.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
* Source and create compelling content that can span text, audio and video formats
* Break exclusive news stories from across AFL and AFLW in NSW and the broader league
* Develop relationships to allow for storytelling uncovering the personalities behind the game
* Attend matches, press conferences, training on a regular basis across both AFL clubs in NSW
* Meet filing guidelines for written content with regard to brief, style, deadlines, word lengths and writing quality across AFL.com.au and the AFL App
* Be creative in the presentation of your work, particularly with the use of vision and graphics
* You must be just as comfortable filing quickly and cleanly from press conferences and matches as you are producing long-form analysis and features
* Produce unique storytelling focused on grassroots and fans in an emerging football market
