As a Craft Department Volunteer, you'll play a vital role in our mission to provide essential services to Central Coast families. Since 1962, we've been making a difference in our community, and our Op Shop is at the heart of this work.
We're looking for craft enthusiasts who can help us assess, sort, and display our ever-changing collection of fabrics, yarns, and craft materials, ensuring they find new homes at fair market value. Your contribution will directly support our disability services while promoting sustainable crafting in our community. Key Duties
* Sort and evaluate donated craft supplies, fabrics, and materials for quality and usability.
* Price items according to our Fair Price Promise guidelines and current market values.
* Identify specialty crafting items and premium materials.
* Create inspiring displays that showcase materials and project possibilities.
* Maintain organised and tidy department presentation with clear categorisation.
* Monitor stock levels and rotate seasonal craft supplies regularly.
* Assist customers with queries about materials and basic crafting advice.
* Handle and store delicate materials appropriately (silks, speciality yarns, etc.).
Skills and Experience
* Knowledge of various crafts, textiles, and crafting materials.
* Good eye for quality and ability to assess material condition.
* Understanding of different fabric types and crafting supplies.
* Physical ability to handle fabric bolts and craft supply boxes safely.
* Organised approach to sorting and categorising materials.
* Customer service skills and friendly demeanour.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Previous crafting, fabric store, or retail experience beneficial but not required.
* Must be reliable and able to commit to regular shifts.
