Pea Harvester Operator Job Summary
This is a seasonal role for an experienced Pea Harvester Operator to work across the midlands and northern Tasmania, with transport provided and travel paid.
The successful candidate will possess key attributes including:
* Safety First
* Previous experience operating harvesters, tractors or mobile plant equipment would be advantageous
* Able to work 12 hour shifts (starting at 0300 hours) across northern Tasmania with capacity to stay overnight where required
* Mechanical aptitude is essential
* Availability to commence in early November and commit to the full season - approximately 10 weeks
* Able to undergo pre-employment medical screening including urine based drug and alcohol testing
Main Responsibilities
Working as part of an experienced harvest crew, the successful applicant will safely operate a self-propelled pea harvester (e.g. Oxbo GP1189) duties include but are not limited to:
* Primarily operate and drive a modern fleet of pea harvesters
* Refueling of harvesters and associated auxiliary equipment
* Reviewing daily harvest plans and working to achieve these goals
* Using radio communications between fellow Harvester Operators and maintenance / team leadership
* Contributing to group safety activities and continuous improvement programs
The role commences early November for training and seasonal harvesting. This is an ideal opportunity for those tertiary agricultural students looking to further their harvest knowledge and experience within a working environment during the university semester breaks.
Base rate of pay including 25% casual loading = $40.15 per hour with shift allowances, penalties and overtime (where applicable).
