Mini Overview
As an English / Maths Educator at Marquis, you will be responsible for teaching classes that consist of highly engaged and bright students from Sydney’s top Selective, Private and Independent high schools. You will guide students through the NSW English NESA curriculum based on our structured Yearly Course Programs and will be supplied rich content developed by our Founder Abi Kugendran and Academic Director and Head of
English, who achieved dual first place in English Ext 1 & Ext 2, first place in Visual Arts, a 99.55 ATAR, has a Bachelor of Liberal Arts & Sciences (double major in Education and English Literature), and Dalyell Scholar in English, from the University of Sydney, and 15 years’ experience as a specialist HSC Educator guiding her students to scoring Band 6 and top ATAR results year on year.
You will deliver Marquis Yearly Success Course Programs providing students with your own experience and insights, providing valuable tips and tricks to tackle assessments, assignments, and to prepare for exams providing comprehensive, specific and detailed feedback on homework, school assessments and Marquis mock exams.
Overall Job Function & Role
Responsible for teaching and fostering a positive, and engaging and nurturing learning environment through weekly classes, both in-centre and online via virtual interactive Zoom classes, with a maximum of 10 students per class, inside and/or outside the school term. This will include thoroughly deconstructing concepts and texts from our pre-prepared course materials, written by PhD Academics, experienced HSC Educators and subject matter experts tailored towards the NSW NESA syllabus. The role also requires supporting student development with ongoing monitoring of each student’s personalised learning needs and marking of their weekly homework.
You will also be open to additional on-on-one private tutoring to supplement and support Yearly Success Program students looking for additional support.

Maths subjects taught at Marquis include:
● Years 6 – 10 Mathematics
● Year 11 & 12 Mathematics Advanced
● Year 11 & 12 Mathematics Extension
Core Responsibilities
● Weekly management of student class notes and homework
● Tracking and recording students’ progress via exams and HW throughout each term
● Informing the management team immediately if you are concerned with a student’s progress and wish the parents to be contacted
● Responding to students’ questions on the Marquis Online Portal - My-Ed & Google Classroom
● Ensure resource support materials are available to students by contacting the management and Student Experience Support team when necessary.
● Ensure homework is marked, input into our system and returned to students on time
Technical & Competencies
● Solid understanding of the most up to date and recent Australian NSW NESA syllabus and must have completed their studies in Australia.
● Extensive pedagogical knowledge base and understanding of how the identified subject areas are learned, what affects students’ opportunities to learn the subject matter and how the learning and teaching of the subject matter can be enhanced.
● Microsoft office programs intermediate level Word, Excel and PowerPoint
● Experience with Google Education

Advantageous and Desirable
● 3+ years of tutoring experience
● Prior teaching experience
● Have completed or currently completing degree in Secondary Education
● Achieved Band 6 in English Advanced/English Extension 1 & English Extension 2
