Attractive base salary of AU$107,216.18 + super, loadings and allowances.
About the role
Primary Mental Health Nurse Team Leader employed by GEO Healthcare works to deliver high quality mental health care to men in Victoria's public prisons.
The Primary Mental Health Nurse Team Leader (MHN Team Leader) will assist the Health Services Manager (HSM) to manage the provision of primary mental health services at their location/s. The MHN Team Leader is responsible for coordinating mental health nursing staff and will undertake the duties of delivering mental health services which enable and promote the health of prisoners through evidence-based, comprehensive and professional nursing care within a prison setting; and assisting in the management of people in prison who are at risk of self-harm or suicide.
Full-time employment is available.

Responsibilities
* Provide primary mental health nursing services to people in prison.
* Undertake At Risk assessments within the specified timeframe for people who are at risk of self-harm or suicide.
* Conduct primary mental health nurse clinics; patients are assessed, treatment plans reviewed, and ongoing care discussed.
* Provide primary mental health consultancy service for primary health nursing staff and other service providers.
* Participate in clinical handover meetings within the health team.
* Document all patient occasions of service, declining of services, non-attendance and appointment scheduling in the electronic medical record (EMR) and maintain confidentiality of health records.
* Document occasions of service in the approved format.
* Work collaboratively with the Forensic Mental Health (FMH) Service Provider in assessment and management of a patient who may be deteriorating and/or has complex mental health issues.
* Refer patients to the FMH service for specialist assessment and review, including managing the waitlist for the FMH outreach service at designated GEO Healthcare locations.
Qualifications and Experience
* Professional qualifications in Mental Health; minimum of 12 months experience in mental health over the past 3 years; ability to work unsupervised in delivery of primary mental health services.
* Valid Australian driver's licence.
* Ability to work within a prison setting, involving direct contact with people in prison in delivery of healthcare.
* Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
* Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
