About the role
We are seeking a Logistics Officer to join our team to facilitate the efficient and cost-effective movement of commodities between our suppliers and clients.
This is a fixed-term contract parental leave cover for 12 months.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and controlling daily grain movements and freight, developing a forward schedule of logistics activities, and ensuring the minimisation of freight costs while maintaining the quality delivery of commodities.
Your key responsibilities:
* Liaise, coordinate and control daily grain movements and freight between suppliers and clients.
* Develop and maintain a schedule of expected logistics activities over the forward fortnight period.
* Minimise freight costs while ensuring the continued quality delivery and overall efficiency of the movement of commodities.
* Liaise closely with all external and internal stakeholders and provide timely reporting to management of performance and any identified issues.
* Resolve logistical problems that arise in a timely manner, including rejections, freight failures, Bulk Handling Companies site changes, weather interruptions, etc.
* Actively monitor freight costs to all destinations and keep relevant Traders and team members informed.
* Seek out freight arbitrage opportunities and execute them to increase trade margin in the relevant commodity.
* Maintain a positive rapport with both current and prospective clients and suppliers.
Our Ideal candidate will possess:
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience in logistics, preferably in the grain industry.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal ensuring effective communication with clients and colleagues.
* High level of attention to detail.
* Advanced level of Microsoft Excel and well-rounded knowledge of computer systems.
* Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and be self-motivated and proactive.
* Ability to work in an environment with tight deadlines.
