About the Role As Energy Trading Risk Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting risk oversight of the wholesale electricity trading portfolio. Working as part of the middle office function, you will be responsible for monitoring exposure, assessing risk metrics, ensuring compliance with trading mandates, and delivering daily risk and P&L reports. The role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders. You will work closely with front office traders, commercial managers, and finance teams to ensure risk transparency, accurate reporting, and sound decision support across the business. Key Responsibilities Deliver daily risk reporting across electricity portfolios, including exposure, VaR, and P&L Monitor compliance with trading limits, policies, and escalation protocols Analyse portfolio risk drivers, explain P&L variances, and support transaction reviews Assist in the development and calibration of market risk models and stress tests Contribute to the improvement of reporting processes, tools, and system automation Collaborate with front office, finance, and market operations teams to ensure accurate, timely data flows Provide input into trading governance frameworks and support internal audit readiness Maintain data quality and ensure accuracy in key market risk metrics Business Coverage Wholesale electricity trading (physical and financial) Risk oversight, exposure reporting, and trading limit monitoring Market risk modelling, VaR, stress testing, and P&L attribution Governance of traded markets within the NEM Daily interaction with trading, market operations, and risk leadership Candidate Profile You are a commercially minded analyst or middle office professional with strong technical skills and a deep interest in energy trading. You bring risk, trading, or financial market experience from a utility, trading house, or energy retailer.
