Every single day, this publisher speaks to more than 550,000 Australians through its websites and newsletters, generating millions of pageviews each month. Within the next two years, the ambition is to surpass 1 million daily readers.
This is not a traditional newsroom role.
This is for an Editor with sharp commercial instincts, strong news judgement, audience intuition and the ability to build daily reading habits at scale.
The audience? Australians aged 60+.
An audience often misunderstood by mainstream media — digitally engaged, financially influential, fiercely loyal, highly opinionated, and deeply responsive to content that genuinely resonates with their lives.
Topics range from cost of living, scams, superannuation and retirement policy through to nostalgia, consumer news, celebrity stories, health, travel and everyday Australian life.
The editorial tone is accessible, engaging, conversational and high-volume. Think more Daily Mail / News Corp audience instincts than long-form opinion journalism or public broadcaster-style editorial.
We are seeking someone who:
* Knows how to identify stories people actually click, open, share and forward
* Understands audience behaviour and engagement metrics
* Can move quickly and confidently in a fast-paced digital environment
* Is commercially minded without compromising editorial standards
* Has the personality and conviction to help shape a growing national media voice
This role will lead the editorial direction across two large-scale digital publications and oversee a lean local Sydney operation (2 staff locally, supported by a broader offshore content team of 40).
You'll have genuine autonomy, direct influence on growth strategy and the ability to make decisions quickly — without endless corporate meetings, layers of approval or committee-driven publishing.
The business operates with a start-up mentality despite already being highly profitable and established.
