Your new role
For a senior lawyer, joining their legal team means stepping into an environment where legal decisions directly influence public safety, regulatory compliance, and long-term energy strategy. Working within a high-performing team of lawyers, your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
* Leading the drafting and negotiation of contracts for major infrastructure and energy transition projects, as well as day-to-day operational agreements.
* Delivering high-quality, commercially astute legal advice on complex issues arising from the organisation's core operations and strategic energy transition initiatives.
* Supporting the Head of Legal & Governance in shaping the organisation's legal position and negotiation strategies across litigation, regulatory compliance, and contractual risk.
* Advising on dispute resolution, litigation strategy, and risk mitigation in relation to operational claims and emerging legal issues.
* Assisting with executive-level reporting on formal claims, including preparation of materials for the Board in collaboration with the General Counsel & General Manager Business Services.
* Contributing to the development and implementation of legal policies, governance frameworks, and process improvements across the business.
What you'll need to succeed
* Admitted to practice as a Lawyer in Australia
* Ideally, a minimum of 8 years' PAE
* Experience gained in a top-tier/mid-tier law firm or in-house within a reputable company
* Expertise in negotiating and drafting a wide variety of commercial contracts, ideally within the energy sector or similar blue collar industry.
* Exposure to advising on regulatory matters and commercial disputes
* Ability to manage matters autonomously
* Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to build relationships in cross-functional environments
* Team player who is willing to help when needed
