This role is pivotal in shaping the future of TasPorts' infrastructure, ensuring designs are safe, efficient, and compliant with Australian Standards and maritime regulations. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, consultants and contractors to deliver innovative solutions that support economic growth and environmental stewardship.

The role will be office based with site travel required during design development and construction phases of projects.

Key Duties

· Lead the design of port infrastructure including wharves, berths, quay walls, breakwaters, and cargo handling facilities.

· Manage the design process from concept through to construction (excluding contract administration).

· Facilitate structured design reviews and embed constructability assessments throughout the design lifecycle.

· Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, maritime regulations, and environmental requirements.

· Champion sustainable design practices, including low-carbon materials and climate resilience.

· Engage with internal teams, port tenants, government agencies, and contractors to align design objectives.

· Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and site surveillance staff.

· Coordinate responses and actions related to contractor and consultant RFI's and NCR's during the project life cycle.

About you

You are a highly experienced civil or structural engineer with a passion for delivering complex maritime infrastructure projects. You thrive in collaborative environments, have strong leadership skills, and can navigate technical and regulatory challenges with confidence. Your ability to balance innovation with compliance and sustainability sets you apart.
