The Fleet Operations team leads fleet mechanical services and scheduled vehicle inspections to meet regulatory requirements and comply with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and Transport and Main Road (TMR) legislative guidelines.
The Fleet Maintenance team provides repairs and maintenance services through full lifecycle management and best practice approaches to ensure all heavy, medium, and light commercial fleet assets and equipment are fit for purpose, maintained to meet complex deployment environments, operational capability, and organisational objectives.Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will conduct repairs and scheduled maintenance of QFD fire appliances, pumps, systems, and associated equipment to ensure they meet operational capability and comply with NHVR, Queensland Transport Operations Regulations 2009, and the Transport Operations Act 1995.
Responsibilities include completing job sheets, data entry, and adhering to workplace health and safety policies to ensure effective service delivery.Are you a qualified Heavy Diesel Technician or similar (light vehicle and auto electricians also considered)?

The Fleet Maintenance team ensures repairs and maintenance across the fleet to meet operational and organisational objectives.Key RequirementsCurrent Medium Rigid drivers' license or ability to attain prior to appointmentTrade certification as an Engineering Tradesperson - Level 1 Motor Mechanic (Heavy Vehicle) or equivalent skills and knowledgeSkills or qualifications in light vehicle trades will be considered with an intent to update certifications if successfulSpecial RequirementsProvide after-hours on-call service for urgent maintenance and repairs of fire appliances and heavy vehiclesYour ResponsibilitiesService, repair, and maintain fire appliances and associated equipment to comply with legislation and manufacturer specificationsUse hand tools, special tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and in compliance with safety policiesParticipate in ongoing training to maintain competenciesDiagnose faults, including electrical issues, using diagnostic equipment and road testsUpdate parts inventories, job sheets, and maintenance records electronicallyCommunicate condition reports of fire appliances and equipment to the Workshop SupervisorLeadership CapabilitiesAssessment based on Queensland Leadership Competencies for Individual Contributors, including:Stimulating ideas and making insightful decisionsBuilding relationships and driving accountabilityFostering inclusive workplaces and demonstrating governanceAll team members are expected to exemplify QFES shared values: Respect, Integrity, Courage, Loyalty, and Trust.
