Job Summary
We are currently seeking hardworking and reliable Fishermen / Deckhands to join our marine operations team. This role involves assisting with commercial fishing activities, vessel operations, and general deck duties while ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with maritime regulations. The ideal candidate is physically fit, adaptable, and comfortable working at sea in varying weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with deployment and retrieval of fishing gear (nets, lines, traps, pots)
* Handle, sort, clean, and store catch in accordance with quality standards
* Perform general deckhand duties including cleaning, maintenance, and repairs
* Operate deck machinery such as winches and cranes under supervision
* Support vessel navigation and lookout duties as required
* Follow all maritime safety, biosecurity, and environmental procedures
* Assist the Skipper and crew with daily operational tasks
* Work flexible hours, including early starts, nights, weekends, and public holidays
Requirements
* Previous experience as a fisherman or deckhand preferred but not essential
* Strong physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour
* Willingness to work long hours at sea in all weather conditions
* Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
* Strong commitment to safety and workplace procedures
* Valid Australian work rights
Desirable (but Not Essential)
* AMSA certificates (e.g. General Purpose Hand, Deckhand, or Coxswain)
* Sea survival and First Aid certification
* Experience in commercial fishing vessels or trawlers
* Basic mechanical or maintenance skills

Pay: $30.00 – $33.00 per hour
