Focus of the Role
An excellent opportunity has become available for a highly motivated and passionate IT Technical Expert for Windows, Citrix and VMware technologies in the Telstra Defence Operations, Data Centre Operations Team. This roles focus will be on the Defence Terrestrial Communications Production Network (DTCN). You will have the opportunity to help build and integrate recent products into the DTCN environment.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a Technical Expert to support the operations and maintenance of the Telstra Defence Terrestrial Communications Network (DTCN). Specifically, the Datacentre based compute, operating system, network and management application stacks.

This role can be based in Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney, Australia. This is an office-based role with scheduled RDOs available.

The Data Centre Operations Team support both the production and pre-production environments for the Defence Terrestrial Communications Network.In this role your primary focus would be on the operations of the production environment. However, you will also get the opportunity to work on the Defence Canberra Integration Laboratory (pre-production and integration) to prepare solutions for deployment into production.

In this role your focus will be on Unix Administration. You will also get the opportunity to work on a varied number of technologies:

- VMWare Virtualisation
- F5 Load Balancers
- HP Compute
- Lenovo Compute

Your key responsibilities and major tasks include, but are not limited to:

- You will be responsible for all facets of managing the DTCN platforms.
- Restoring elements to working order
- Proactively looking for potential issues
- Managing changes within the environment
- Maintaining the DTCN Baseline
- Looking for opportunities to improve the DTCN platforms.

About You

- Hold a minimum of NV1 AGSVA security clearance.
- Experience in Security Management and Project Management
- Demonstrated experience with ITIL Service Management – Fault, Problem, Request, Change and Asset Management
- Proven ability with recovering from setbacks and are a self-starter.
- Proven ability to administer Windows 2008 – 2019 Operating systems.
- Proven ability to manage Citrix XEN Desktop or equivalent.
- RHEL certification – Desirable
- Windows Administration certification – Desirable
- Juniper Network Administration certification - Desirable

Please note all candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold a minimum of NV1 AGSVA security clearance to be considered. This role will require you to gain or hold and maintain an Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance.
