An exciting opportunity exists for an eager, trade-qualified Mechanical/Maintenance Fitter/Fitter-Machinist at our Luscombe manufacturing plant.
The maintenance team plays a pivotal role in providing high-quality engineering and maintenance services, ensuring plant reliability to support consistent, high-quality products for our customers.
Our onsite workshop is equipped with lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and welders.
Qualifications & Experience
Effective communication skills and strong leadership with demonstrated team engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities; a self-starter with a positive attitude and initiative, capable of working independently.
Trade qualification as a Mechanical/Maintenance Fitter or Fitter-Machinist, with 3-5 years' experience in the baking industry or related food manufacturing.
Ability to complete mechanical work efficiently to meet company standards.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety standards and adherence to these practices.
Experience in breakdown, fault finding, and line start-up processes.
Experience with food manufacturing equipment such as mixers, ovens, conveyors, flow wrappers, VFF machines, and automated packing systems.
Proficiency in using mills, lathes, and welding techniques (TIG, MIG).
Forklift/EWP license is advantageous.
Tasks & Responsibilities
This is a hands-on role responsible for coordinating, prioritizing, and scheduling work for yourself and the maintenance team.
Apply lean manufacturing principles to optimize plant operation, meeting or exceeding efficiency, performance, and quality targets.
Conduct root cause analysis on failures and ensure follow-up actions.
Collaborate with the operations manager and production team to improve productivity and equipment performance.
Manage work orders, PM plans, and scheduling within our maintenance system.
Ensure equipment operates correctly to minimize downtime.
Report monthly KPIs to management and maintain records for food safety and quality assurance programs.
Coordinate with tradespeople such as electricians and gas specialists, obtaining quotes and managing parts/materials ordering.

Work 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, or as negotiated.
