Position Information
Oatley Public School is a metropolitan school located in southern Sydney. The traditional owners are the Bidjigal people of the Eora Nation. The school is a focal point of the community and caters for students in Kindergarten to Year 6. Oatley Primary School has 23 staff including non teaching staff, with a student enrolment of 365. The school community has positive partnerships with P&C consisting of parents and carers, teachers and the wider community. Oatley Primary School has a proud sporting history, provides opportunities in the creative and performing arts, Sciences, Technology and embraces Creativity, Critical Reflection, Communication and Collaboration (4Cs). The school promotes the growth and development of our young people and builds the capacity of our students to develop as a whole child and through teaching and learning incorporate capacities which help our students navigate through a changing world.
The school is unique as it is a split site with Neville Street being closed during school hours to allow for safe access to both sites. The administration building, Library, hall and canteen are services on the south site.
Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach special education and/or experience, skills and knowledge to teach students with complex needs, including autism, and challenging behaviours to promote positive learning and inclusive practices.
* Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum, developing, implementing, and monitoring Personalised Learning and Support Plans that are responsive to the individual learning, wellbeing, and developmental goals of students.
* Demonstrated skills and experience in using a range of classroom management and flexible teaching strategies that engage and cater for the academic, communication, sensory, social and emotional needs of students.
* Highly developed communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to contributing positively to the culture of special education and the broader school community through building and maintaining effective partnerships.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
