The Housing Support Officer provides practical, operational support to LALCs in managing their housing programs, assisting with tenancy management, tenant engagement, and housing-related administrative processes to strengthen local housing management capacity, governance and compliance.
This position sits within the Housing Support team within the Community stream and contributes to delivering targeted housing support across five (5) Zones — Eastern, Western, Far West, Northern, and Southern Regions. There are two (2) vacancies – one role in the Western region and another role in the Southern region.
The Housing Support Team delivers practical, culturally appropriate assistance that enhances housing management through governance and compliance capability building. Its core mission is to empower LALCs to build strong housing programs, support the growth and development of housing portfolios, and effectively manage their housing assets, ensuring sustainability into the future.
KEY OUTCOMES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Provide direct, hands-on support to LALCs in managing tenancy and housing program operations.
* Assist LALCs in implementing effective tenant engagement and housing management processes.
* Support LALCs through coaching and capacity building to improve housing governance, management and compliance.
* Facilitate effective communication between LALCs and external housing service providers or contractors to ensure effective service delivery.
* Monitor and report on housing management challenges and successes within assigned LALCs to the Team Leader to inform continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* This is an identified position under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
* Practical experience in tenancy management, property management and policy implementation, and housing program administration.
* Knowledge and understanding of housing compliance requirements, policies, and regulatory frameworks.
* Experience in effectively engaging with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders, including the ability to provide direct support to build capacity within Aboriginal community organisations.
* A current driver's license and the ability to travel to locations within the region and throughout NSW as required.
