Agronomist Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Agronomist to lead productivity and quality enhancements in our almond orchards. The successful candidate will work autonomously, spending 70% of their time inspecting trees and conducting soil and leaf analysis on over 3000 hectares of farmland.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or a related field and experience as an agronomy professional. They will also possess proficiency in data analysis and agricultural software technologies.
1. Irrigation & Soil Nutrition:
* Design best practice management plans and assist in developing annual irrigation and nutrition programs and schedules by farm using best practices.
* Guide and monitor on-farm activities to ensure irrigation schedules are adhered to and review tree health each season with recommendations for changes to optimize tree health.
2. Pest & Disease:
* Contribute to the development of a best practice management plan that achieves satisfactory production and yield results.
* Assist in developing annual pest and disease programs and guide and monitor on-farm activities to ensure tree health.
3. Field Operations Monitoring:
* Manage a soil monitoring program with accurate data for trend analysis and apply recommendations for maximum irrigation and fertigation efficiencies.
* Conduct crop inspections and collect data on pests, conduct trials on a timely basis, expand precision farming techniques, and control wet area recuperation.
4. Expert Advice & Support:
* Provide advice to the Technical Services team regarding current and new irrigation management, pest and diseases, fertigation, and soil amelioration requirements.
* Offer support and guidance to on-farm management through regular training sessions.
5. Controls & Reporting:
* Assist the technical manager to forecast and track water use weekly, fortnightly, monthly, and yearly.
* Conduct monthly farm-by-farm analysis and review of agronomic practices across over 3000 hectares of farmland.
