Fertigation/Irrigation Technician: A Key Role in Sustainable Farming Operations

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fertigation/Irrigation Technician to support our daily farming operations. This role is vital in maintaining the health and productivity of our vegetable crops, involving diverse tasks during both growing and harvest periods.


Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Fertigation/Irrigation Technician. As a key member of our farm team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of our fertigation/irrigation systems, which are essential for the growth and production of our vegetables.


Key Responsibilities:

* Set up, monitor, and repair fertigation/irrigation systems: Ensure that all systems are functioning correctly and make any necessary repairs to maintain optimal performance.
* Participate in harvesting and post-harvest activities: Assist with the harvesting and handling of vegetables to ensure high-quality produce.
* Operate tractors, machinery, and equipment safely: Use equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety procedures to prevent accidents.
* Adhere to safety procedures and promote a safe work environment: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
* Perform general farm maintenance and cleaning: Carry out regular maintenance tasks to keep the farm clean and well-maintained.
* Support various farm teams as directed by the Farm Manager: Collaborate with other teams to achieve farm goals and objectives.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

* Horticulture or farming experience (preferred): Previous experience in horticulture or farming is desirable but not essential.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively: Demonstrate the ability to work alone and as part of a team.
* Physical fitness for outdoor work in all weather conditions: Be physically fit and able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
* Reliability, punctuality, and eagerness to learn: Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
* Positive attitude and strong work ethic: Display a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
* Commitment to workplace health and safety: Prioritize workplace health and safety at all times.
* Chemical Handling Certificate (desirable but not essential): Possess a Chemical Handling Certificate if possible.
* Current, unencumbered driver's licence (required): Hold a valid driver's license.
