6 Month Non-Ongoing Federal Government - APS6 Digital Content WriterPosition Title: Digital Content Producer Reports to: Digital Content ManagerAgency/Team: Strategic Communications TeamPurpose of the Position The Digital Content Producer is responsible for managing the publishing of policy content using Squiz CMS.
Working with policy experts, the role ensures that content is optimised, accessible, and aligned with the Agency's brand and publishing standards.The role also involves providing support to colleagues on content editing and contributing to a strong digital presence by maintaining high-quality website content.
The Digital Content Producer works closely with internal stakeholders, particularly policy teams, to ensure content is findable, engaging, polished, and meets accessibility standards.Key Responsibilities Content ProductionManage the publishing process for specific areas of the Agency's website.Ensure all policy content aligns with the Agency's brand, tone of voice, and visual identity.Publish a variety of content types using Squiz CMS, including reports, submissions, publications, landing pages, and general web content.Identify and implement opportunities to improve user journeys through internal linking and content cross-referencing.Write and optimise metadata descriptions for improved searchability.Content Quality AssuranceQuality assure web content for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards.Resolve content issues including:broken linksspelling errorsmissing/incomplete metadata or alt tagsduplicate or outdated contentaccessibility or formatting issuesArchive webpages and implement redirects where required.Migrate content to the current site architecture as needed.Conduct basic reviews of Google Analytics data (e.g. page views).
Ensure content meets relevant standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA.Tag and organise content for optimal discoverability.Monitor and track improvements to web content.Task ManagementWork collaboratively with Content Editors to ensure updates are delivered within agreed timeframes.Support planning and delivery of digital projects as required.Professional Knowledge and SkillsDemonstrated experience producing and editing content for the web.Proficiency in content management systems, ideally Squiz or Drupal.Strong attention to detail, including grammar, spelling, and accessibility compliance.Basic understanding of HTML.Ability to manage large volumes of content and follow established quality assurance processes.Experience training non-technical users in CMS basics and maintaining training documentation.Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.Ability to engage and manage relationships with policy experts and other internal stakeholders.Analytical skills, including experience with reviewing web analytics data.Relevant qualifications or equivalent professional experience.Leadership and ManagementExperience leading small content projects from planning to completion.Ability to manage business requirements, timelines, and stakeholder communication.Contributes ideas, supports team cohesion, and identifies risks or areas for improvement.Understanding the OrganisationUnderstands and supports the purpose of the Agency and how digital content contributes to its objectives.Recognises external and internal factors that impact the Agency's communications work.Delivering ResultsTakes ownership of projects and tasks, follows through to completion, adjusts plans as needed, and seeks feedback for improvement.Works effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.Relationships and CommunicationBuilds and maintains collaborative relationships with team members and stakeholders.Listens actively, adapts to change, and contributes to open and respectful dialogue.Communicates clearly and appropriately across channels and formats.Other RequirementsCompletion of mandatory training and workshops.Adherence to the Agency's policies and procedures.Compliance with the APS Code of Conduct, APS Values, and Employment Principles.Uphold workplace health and safety obligations.Meet positive duty responsibilities in line with Respect@Work obligations.Demonstrate impartiality, respect, and integrity in line with public service expectations.Let me know if you'd like a version in Word or formatted for recruitment ads.For more information, contact **********************Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading.
