Overview
We are seeking a full-time Tiler to join our growing team in Sydney. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality wall and floor tiling across residential and commercial projects. The successful candidate will examine plans, prepare surfaces, carry out precise tile layout and installation, and ensure all finishes meet professional standards and project specifications.
This role requires strong technical tiling skills, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently to meet project deadlines while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Reporting Structure: The Tiler reports directly to the Managing Director.
Team Management: The role may involve coordinating and directing assistants or subcontractors on site as required.
Responsibilities
* Examine construction plans and specifications to determine tile layout and installation requirements.
* Measure and mark out surfaces accurately to ensure correct alignment and levels.
* Prepare wall and floor surfaces by removing existing tiles, grout, and adhesives; filling holes and cracks; levelling and screeding substrates; and cleaning surfaces prior to installation.
* Organise and manage tiles, adhesives, grouts, and related materials in accordance with project schedules.
* Spread adhesives and set tiles in position, ensuring correct alignment, spacing and minimal lippage.
* Cut and shape tiles using manual cutters, wet saws and other tools to fit edges, corners and around fittings and penetrations.
* Lay ceramic, porcelain, marble, slate, glass and natural stone tiles to internal and external walls and floors, including feature layouts where required.
* Carry out grouting, sealing and silicone application, and complete final clean-up to achieve a professional finish.
* Maintain a clean, safe and organized worksite, including proper disposal of waste materials.
* Comply with all workplace health and safety requirements.
* Coordinate tasks for assistants or subcontractors where required and provide progress updates to the Managing Director.
* Liaise with clients, builders and project managers regarding project timelines and site matters.
* Complete required site documentation, including recording work hours and material usage.
Requirements
* To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following:
* 3 to 5 years of hands‐on experience in wall and floor tiling.
* Certificate IV in Wall and Floor Tiling or higher qualification, or at least three years of relevant full‐time experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
* Proven ability in levelling, layout, tile cutting including manual and wet saw cutting, mitres, and grout and silicone finishing with minimal lippage.
* Ability to read plans and take accurate site measurements and levels.
* Sound knowledge of adhesives and grouts suitable for porcelain, ceramic and natural stone, including understanding of expansion joints and movement detailing.
* Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
* Ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines.
* White Card (General Construction Induction).
* Valid driving licence preferred.
