With its head office located in the heart of Kuitpo Forest, ForestrySA is responsible for management of commercial pine plantations and native forests, including conservation, community and recreational access and use, on behalf of the South Australian Government.
ForestrySA is seeking a Ranger to contribute to a range of operational programs and projects, primarily in facilitating, supervising and monitoring visitation, events and activities to ensure visitors enjoy a safe and memorable experience on ForestrySA reserves.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
* Assist with the delivery and monitoring of events, visitor activities and community programs, and respond to general public enquiries in line with ForestrySA procedures.
* Support the development and implementation of recreational and community initiatives, including providing assistance with logistics and permitting processes.
* Engage with and support community groups, volunteers, schools and stakeholders to help deliver positive recreation, conservation and education outcomes.
* Carry out routine compliance and patrol activities, including assisting with Forest Warden duties and reporting any issues or non-compliance.
* Provide support in responding to incidents and emergencies, working with other agencies as required and following established procedures.
* Assist with maintaining infrastructure and natural resources, and support fire management, WHS, reporting and basic procurement activities as required.
Applications are encouraged from individuals who have strong experience in visitor management and community engagement. Sound knowledge and understanding of land management principles and practices, including implementation of operational plans and programs will be required, supported by an appropriate qualification in Natural Resource Management, Park Management or equivalent. Candidates should also have experience in compliance with legislation and administration including report writing, budgeting and contract management.
Successful candidates will be based at Mount Crawford Forest and are required to work 150 hours of duty per 28 days, rostered irregularly, including weekends and public holidays with participation in fire preparedness and response activities part of the role.
This is a 12-month position with an annual base salary of $63,226 - $67,021, commensurate with relevant skills and experience.
