About the Role
As an APS4 Biosecurity Officer – Cargo Operations, you will play a vital role in protecting Australia's biosecurity by ensuring imported goods meet strict compliance requirements. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, decision-making, and stakeholder communication.
Classification/Level: APS4
Location: Darwin, NT
Duration: 12 Months
Requirements:
* Australian Citizenship
* Baseline Security Clearance or ability to obtain
* Police Check
* Valid Australian Driver's Licence
* Willingness to work out-of-hours, weekends, and overtime as required
* Ability to complete Biosecurity Foundation Program training
* Compliance with uniform, PPE, and workplace safety requirements
Key Responsibilities:
* Inspect imported goods, food, vessels, and mail for compliance
* Assess documentation against strict biosecurity regulations
* Identify and escalate potential biosecurity risks
* Enforce regulatory standards and manage non-compliant goods
* Provide expert advice to stakeholders, teams, and senior managers
* Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and risk management procedures
* Work both independently and within a fast-paced, operational team
