Litigation Management – KIT Directorate
Freedom of Information (FOI) | Fast‑paced, high‑performing team
Are you motivated, detail‑focused and committed to upholding transparency in the public sector? The Department of Justice is seeking three experienced Information Release Officers to support the Information Release team within the Knowledge, Information & Technology (KIT) Directorate. These roles offer the chance to contribute to critical FOI decision‑making processes and ensure the Department meets its statutory obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 1992.

Your new role
Working as part of a collaborative and high‑performing team, you will play a key part in managing and coordinating Freedom of Information (FOI) applications from start to finish. In this busy and dynamic environment, no two days will be the same. Your responsibilities will include:
Processing FOI applications in line with legislative requirements
Managing the end‑to‑end FOI decision‑making process, including consultation, document assessment, redactions and preparing notices of decision
Providing clear and accurate advice to internal stakeholders on FOI obligations and document preparation
Liaising professionally with applicants, external stakeholders and internal business units
Maintaining accurate records and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
Supporting a team culture grounded in collaboration, integrity and strong communication

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will bring:
Experience applying the Freedom of Information Act 1992 or similar disclosure/access legislation
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex and sensitive information
High‑level written communication skills, particularly in drafting formal decision notices
The ability to negotiate, consult and build productive relationships across a range of stakeholders
A commitment to integrity, confidentiality and responsible information handling
The ability to work proactively, adapt quickly to changing priorities and meet tight timeframes with accuracy
