Registrar Geriatric Medicine Hobart Location Royal Hobart Hospital, Hobart. The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest for a Geriatric Medicine Registrar at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
This position is suitable for Basic Physician trainees, GP Registrars, and as a non-core term for Advanced Trainees in Rehabilitation or Emergency Medicine and is distinct from the Advanced Trainee in Geriatric Medicine position.
The Aged Care department has 106 inpatient beds – 60 acute beds; 36 sub‑acute beds (Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) plus 10 beds for patients with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia requiring slow‑stream rehabilitation.
There's an additional GEM at Home service.
The Aged Care specialists provide multiple services to inpatients (including a consultative service and a shared‑care orthogeriatrics model for patients), outpatient clinics (including regional TAZREACH Outreach clinics), education to undergraduates, allied health, nursing, postgraduates, as well as research.
Salary : $134,930 – $189,005 per annum. Period of employment : Fixed term, full time day work (part time hours may be considered). Hours : 76 hours per fortnight plus 10 hours protected training time (pro rata). Appointment dates : Effective 2 February until 1 February (2‑year appointment negotiable). The Registrar is responsible for the day‑to‑day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients and provides after‑hours emergency cover at the hospital.

* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
* Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
