The QT STC is part of the Electro Optics Sensing and Electromagnetic Warfare (EOSEW) Branch within Sensors and Effectors Division. Under broad direction, the Discipline Leader Quantum Communications will lead a small team with a focus on research and development of future quantum communications technologies and techniques as they relate to Defence applications.
Immediate technological priorities include; quantum-secured communication, free-space quantum communications, quantum-enabled RF communications, and quantum-enhanced classical communications. They will conduct individual research as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). In conjunction with the Group Leader QT, they will provide advice to the Research Leader EOSEW, relevant Program Leaders, Defence clients and stakeholders. They will promote a collaborative culture of research, including partnerships with external agencies such as industry, academia and other government agencies.
About our Team
Quantum Technologies STC conducts research and development in the areas of Quantum Sensing including alternative positioning, navigation and timing (PNT), Quantum Communications, and Emerging Sensor Technologies. Quantum Technologies can be defined as those technologies that rely on the quantum mechanical principles such as entanglement and superposition.
The associated research and development program includes a combination of laboratory experimentation, modelling and simulation, field demonstrations and international trials. The STC has developed an extensive network of strategic partners, including with leading national academic and industrial institutions.
International collaborators include:
* Australia, United Kingdom and United States (AUKUS).
* Five Eyes Science and Technology (FVEY S&T).
* NATO Transatlantic Quantum Community (TQC).
