We're looking for a motivated and experienced professional to lead community safety initiatives and emergency management planning for the City of Bunbury.
About the Role
As the Senior Community Safety and Emergency Management Officer, you will play a vital role in developing and coordinating strategies that enhance community safety and build emergency preparedness.
Working closely with internal teams, local agencies, and the community, you will ensure effective delivery of community safety programs and lead emergency planning, response, and recovery activities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Community Safety & Emergency Management team, driving performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Oversee the planning and delivery of community safety services and emergency management activities, ensuring compliance with legislation and Council policies.
Coordinate Council's emergency response and maintain key emergency, fire, and business continuity plans in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Represent Council on emergency management committees and manage relationships and governance of SES and Volunteer Bushfire Brigades.
Support community engagement, education, and legal processes related to community safety, while contributing to a positive and proactive team culture.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications and/or extensive experience in community safety or emergency management.
Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects, develop strategic plans, and work independently.
Experience with grant applications, project reporting, and acquittals.
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to work after hours and respond to emergency calls as required.
