Machine Operator / CNC Operator / Trade Assistant
BDSS Pty Ltd is a Western Australian owned and operated office furniture manufacturer, supplying high‐quality commercial furniture and fit out products at competitive prices. Due to strong growth and increased production demands, we are seeking a motivated and reliable Machine Operator to join our team.
About the Role
This permanent full‐time role is ideal for someone with experience in operating woodworking and CNC machinery within a production environment. While previous factory or machine operation experience is highly regarded, full on‐the‐job training will be provided for the right candidate.
The position involves a mix of CNC machining, edging, general workshop machinery use, and supporting the furniture production process from raw material to finished product.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation (Primary Focus)
* Operating CNC machinery for cutting and routing laminated board (training provided).
* Running the edge bander, panel saw, joining machines and other specialised workshop equipment.
* Setting up machines, loading materials, monitoring performance, and ensuring accurate output.
* Performing routine cleaning, checks, and basic maintenance of machinery.
* Reading and following production drawings, measurements, and cutting lists with accuracy.
General Factory & Production Duties
* Measuring, marking, and cutting timber and laminated materials—often in batch runs.
* Sorting processed materials for assembly.
* Building, assembling, and installing furniture and cabinetry items as required.
* Flat‐pack furniture boxing and maintaining hardware component stocks.
* Ensuring all products are clean, well presented, and meet quality standards before dispatch.
* Unloading trucks and containers of materials when needed.
* Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment.
About You
* Experience in a manufacturing, machine operating, or factory environment
* Strong interest in CNC machinery, woodworking equipment, and hands‐on technical work.
* Reliable, enthusiastic, and keen to develop long‐term skills within the company.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a small production team.
* Comfortable working in a fast‐paced, physically demanding environment.
* High attention to detail and strong commitment to quality.
* Understanding of workplace health & safety requirements.
* Willingness to work overtime when required.
* Current Australian Driver's Licence required.
* Forklift licence required.
