About the role
As the Senior Pharmacist Team Leader, you will provide clinical services to the geriatric and medical specialties teams while also providing strategic and operational leadership to a dedicated team of pharmacists, technicians, assistants and administrative staff, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality and patient-centred pharmacy service for the General Medicine, Geriatrics and Medical Specialties Team at TQEH.
You will guide your team in implementing Medication Management directives, policies, procedures and guidelines, acting as a key point of contact for clinicians and service units on pharmacy-related matters.
Through strong leadership, mentoring and support, you will optimise service outcomes, oversee training and development, and ensure staff competence through targeted practice reviews and performance development.
Working collaboratively with other team leaders, you will contribute to the delivery of safe and cost-effective drug therapy, upholding Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) Standards of Practice and all relevant legal requirements.
You will lead the development, evaluation and teaching of workplace policies and procedures, manage a designated portfolio that supports broader departmental goals, and undertake complex clinical and operational work within your area.
This role also provides cross-departmental support to maintain consistent, accountable and high-quality medication management across the service.

Educational/Vocational Qualifications
Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registration or eligibility for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication and public relations skills; ability to work independently under broad direction; adaptability, flexibility and resilience; strong organisational and time-management skills; ability to analyse data, solve problems and manage change; proven capacity to lead service improvement; and competence in leading, supervising, educating and supporting pharmacy and non-pharmacy staff.
Experience
Extensive hospital pharmacy experience supported by leadership, supervisory or management experience within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Previous experience in geriatrics, general medicine and medical specialties will be advantageous.
Knowledge
Strong professional and technical competence in pharmacy practice and services, with comprehensive knowledge of relevant codes of practice, standards and regulatory requirements.
