Primary objective Preparation of integrated catchment scale water allocation plans to manage and ensure the sustainable use of the Territory’s priority water resources, in line with the Water Act 1992. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Develop, promote, implement and review water allocation plans and associated documents in accordance with the Northern Territory water regulatory framework. 2. Liaise with multi-disciplinary team of technical experts across the division and department to prepare technical reports and inform water resource management activities and plans. 3. Contribute to annual water resource reports for priority resources. 4. Develop and document water allocation processes and procedures. 5. Prepare and present technical and planning information to water advisory committees and at community engagement events to improve understanding of water management in the Territory. Selection criteria Essential 1. Degree in environmental science, natural resource management or similar tertiary qualification relevant to the key duties and responsibilities. 2. Knowledge of water resource planning, environmental assessment or relevant processes. 3. Able to translate and simplify complex technical information from multi-disciplinary experts and research to provide clear advice and recommendations. 4. Proven application of project and program management skills to meet competing demands the deliver outcomes within defined timeframes. 5. Well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to effectively facilitate meetings with a broad range of people. 6. Proven ability to develop and maintain respectful working relationships with team members, other teams, colleagues and stakeholders. Desirable 1. Experience in data management and analysis, including manipulation and presentation of data using Excel and Geographic Information Systems such as ArcGIS or QGIS or similar. 2. Understanding of water resource management principles and regulatory environments relating to water resources.
