Venues NSW is a commerically focused agency of the NSW Government, encompassing the Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium as well as major sporting and cultural stadiums and precincts in Sydney, Olympic Park, Parramatta, Newcastle and Wollongong.

The network of stadiums and entertainment centres host in excess of 5 million people a year at more than 500 events and is a key contributor to the economy.

Venues NSW takes an intergrated approach to our stadia and entertainment centres by developing partnerships with sporting codes, the entertainment and event industry, audiences, local businesses, NSW Government agencies and community groups.

Our network throughout NSW allows us to combine internal resources and harness a vast employee skillset all of which helps us deliver key projects and secure outstanding content.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role supports the Head of Event Acquisition to drive commercial outcomes and optimise venue utilisation across the Venues NSW network.

You will be responsible for preparing hiring proposals, commercial term sheets, and draft contracts, while also leading negotiations with new and existing event partners.

A core part of the role involves business development-engaging with sporting bodies, promoters, and other stakeholders to attract high-profile events to NSW venues.

You will collaborate across departments to create strategies that increase event and non-event day utilisation, manage budgets, and support match-day operations such as ticketing and merchandise.

The role also includes building strong relationships with external partners and internal teams to deliver a commercially successful and diverse event calendar.

ABOUT YOU

You are a proactive, commercially minded professional with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.

You have experience in business development or event acquisition, ideally within sport, entertainment, or venue management.

You're confident managing contracts, leading discussions with senior stakeholders, and delivering strategic outcomes under pressure.

You excel in cross-functional collaboration, can manage complex projects with minimal supervision, and have a strong understanding of event operations and stakeholder needs.

With a focus on customer experience and financial results, you bring a high-performance mindset, attention to detail, and a proven ability to influence and lead within a agile environment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, enabling you to clearly articulate ideas, build alignment, and drive outcomes across diverse audiences.
