Overview Cranfield Group are seeking a reliable Steel Warehouse Operator on behalf of our client, on their permanent afternoon shift. This role involves operating overhead cranes, CNC equipment, band saws, and a high‑performance plasma robot to process and move steel products efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience in steel handling or heavy industrial environments. Key Responsibilities Material Handling & Machinery Operation Safely operate overhead cranes to lift, move, and position steel beams, plate, and other materials. Operate CNC machinery for cutting, drilling, profiling, and processing steel to specification. Use band saws to cut steel materials with accuracy, following work orders and safety procedures. Operate and monitor the HP Plasma Robot for automated cutting operations, ensuring optimal cut quality and machine performance. Production & Workflow Interpret and follow technical drawings, cutting lists, and job sheets. Load and unload steel materials from trucks, storage racks, and machinery. Conduct basic machine setup, calibration, and adjustments. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area following warehouse and WHS policies. Quality & Safety Inspect materials and finished products for accuracy, defects, and compliance with specifications. Perform routine machine checks and report maintenance issues promptly. Follow all safety protocols, including PPE requirements, lock‑out procedures, and load‑handling guidelines.
