 
        
        Development Assessment Leadership Role
This leadership position plays a critical role in driving strategic planning and development across the region. Reporting to the Director Place and Growth, you will oversee the planning section and supervise a team of professionals responsible for assessing development applications.
Key Responsibilities:
 1. Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of planners, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
 2. Development Application Assessment: Assess and determine development applications in accordance with relevant legislation and internal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
 3. Collaboration and Consultation: Coordinate input from multidisciplinary teams and consultants during assessments to ensure comprehensive and informed decision-making.
 4. Pre-lodgement Meetings: Facilitate and chair Development Assessment Unit meetings to discuss and resolve development application submissions.
 5. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare high-quality planning reports and supervise staff documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
 6. Process Improvement: Monitor and improve internal development assessment processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
 7. Representation: Represent the organization in legal proceedings, including the NSW Land and Environment Court.
 8. Strategic Planning: Contribute to and facilitate strategic planning projects and policy development to shape the region's development agenda.
 9. Community Engagement: Support and promote planning awareness in the community through various initiatives and outreach programs.
