Site Technical Manager - Food Safety & Quality
Osborne Richardson have been specialising in Food Manufacturing since We are delighted to have been exclusively appoint by one of Australia's leading FMCG food manufacturers, to recruit an experienced Site Technical Manager - Food Safety & Quality. This pivotal role provides leadership of the onsite Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQ) team while working closely with the National Technical team.

The position is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and maintaining the Food Safety and Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and third-party standards. The successful candidate will be instrumental in audit preparation, leading site HACCP programs, and ensuring the business is audit-ready every day.
This is the first time this role has been brought to market in over 10 years and with a new site manager recently appointed this is an exciting time to join this business.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the site Food Safety & Quality Assurance team.
* Manage and maintain the FSQ Management System, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations, GFSI, and customer standards.
* Coordinate all internal, external, and customer audits, ensuring continuous compliance and improvement.
* Drive root cause analysis, corrective action, and proactive trend analysis to strengthen site performance.
* Champion new systems and technologies that improve food safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
* Provide training across all aspects of food safety, quality, hygiene, allergen management, and GMP.
* Oversee HACCP reviews, verification schedules, microbiological and chemical testing.
* Maintain and monitor supplier, raw material, and finished product specifications.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives and deliver measurable outcomes against site KPIs.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, auditors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
* Take ownership of technical team rostering, ensuring compliance and audit-readiness.
Measures of Success
* Zero recalls or withdrawals.
* Positive customer audit results and feedback.
* GMP audit pass rates above 95%.
* Reduction in non-conformances and site near misses.
* Proactive contribution to cost savings, waste reduction, and sustainability outcomes.
* Development and retention of technical talent within the business.
Essential Criteria ( Applications without this experience will not be considered)
* Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in food safety and quality management within FMCG manufacturing.
* Strong knowledge of BRC, Woolworths and Coles standards.
* Demonstrated success in managing audits, HACCP systems, and FSQMS.
* Proven ability to lead large teams and influence stakeholders across all levels.
* Experience in NPD support and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Knowledge of the Australian agricultural sector will be highly regarded.
