Clinical Perinatal Mental Health Consultant
Join us in shaping the future of perinatal mental health care. As a Clinical Perinatal Mental Health Consultant, you will lead the coordination of patient-centered clinical practice specific to perinatal mental health.
The role requires sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory, providing clinical leadership, advice, and advocacy to a multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for facilitating quality and cost-effective nursing and/or midwifery services consistent with contemporary standards, guidelines, and best practice.
You will provide a consultation-liaison service for perinatal mental health consumers within the hospital and health service, offering a pathway to care for women at risk of perinatal mental health issues.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement evidence-based policies and procedures related to perinatal mental health
* Provide education and training to healthcare professionals on perinatal mental health
* Maintain accurate records and reports related to perinatal mental health services
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans
Requirements:
* Demonstrated expert, specialized, and comprehensive knowledge of contemporary nursing practice within perinatal mental health
* Demonstrated ability to participate directly or indirectly in the delivery of clinical care to individuals/groups within perinatal mental health
* Demonstrated ongoing professional development of self and others and facilitation of an environment that encourages lifelong learning, mentoring, and support for colleagues
* Demonstrated high-level management and organizational skills including advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, professional engagement in change management, risk management skills, information management tools, human, and resource management skills, including negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships, open communication, and a positive environment with internal and external stakeholders while actively contributing to the clinical environment
* Demonstrated sound knowledge and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines, and standards in relation to all areas pertaining to the consultancy of perinatal mental health
* Demonstrated ability to utilize data and information to ensure that the service is organized for safety and measures are in place to capture the standard of service delivery
* Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to quality business processes and evidence-informed practices, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to these improvements, including nursing and midwifery research
Preferred Qualifications:
* Mandatory possession of a nursing qualification from a registered tertiary institution or completion of an approved hospital training program as a Registered Nurse and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential
* Possession of context-specific postgraduate qualification in nursing is highly desirable
