Job Description
Position Overview The Computer Network and Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, configuring, deploying and maintaining network infrastructure and integrated system solutions for clients across the Northern Territory. The role supports the delivery of technology infrastructure projects including CCTV security systems, network connectivity solutions, remote network management, and satellite internet deployments in commercial, residential and remote community environments.
The position involves analysing network requirements, developing system architecture, configuring network equipment and ensuring the reliability, performance and security of network systems. The role also provides advanced technical troubleshooting and optimisation services to support business clients and infrastructure projects delivered by Loku Services Pty Ltd. Key Responsibilities
* Analysing and interpreting network system requirements and developing appropriate network architecture and infrastructure solutions
* Designing, configuring and deploying network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls and communication equipment
* Integrating CCTV surveillance systems with network infrastructure to support security monitoring and remote access
* Installing and configuring satellite internet connectivity solutions, including Starlink systems, for businesses and remote community facilities
* Monitoring network performance, capacity, and usage to ensure optimal efficiency and system reliability, and managing network and cloud management equipment (e.g., UniFi, TP-Link)
* Assessing existing network environments and recommending improvements to network infrastructure, hardware and software systems
* Troubleshooting complex network connectivity issues and providing technical fault-finding and system recovery solutions
* Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining network equipment, servers, operating systems and related applications
* Preparing and maintaining technical documentation including network configurations, system diagrams and maintenance procedures
* Supporting the delivery of network infrastructure projects across commercial sites, residential developments and remote community locations in the Northern Territory
Relevant Qualifications A relevant bachelor degree or higher qualification in Computer Networking, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or a closely related field. Relevant Skills
* Strong understanding of computer networking principles including TCP/IP networking, routing and switching
* Experience configuring network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls and network controllers
* Knowledge of network security practices and system performance optimisation
* Ability to design and implement network infrastructure for commercial and community environments
* Experience integrating CCTV surveillance systems with network infrastructure and remote monitoring platforms
* Knowledge of satellite internet connectivity technologies
* Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity issues
* Understanding of network monitoring, system reliability and network performance management
* Ability to document system architecture, network diagrams and technical procedures
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in network system troubleshooting
Relevant Experience At least three years of relevant employment experience in network engineering, network infrastructure deployment or related technical roles involving network configuration, system integration and network troubleshooting.
