Job Summary
\
This role is responsible for leading and managing a team that develops and delivers international strategic design, program design, evaluation and gender specialist services.
\
The team works on developing and delivering international strategic design, program design, evaluation and gender specialist services for AFP activities both offshore and in Australia.
\
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an enabling environment for strategic policy advice, designing evaluations, and providing trusted sources of evidence-based advice to inform executive decision-making.
\
Key Responsibilities:
\
* Create an enabling environment for the provision of strategic policy advice, strategic design, evaluation and gender specialist services for AFP international activities;
\
* Position the team to provide reliable, trusted sources of evidence-based advice to inform AFP International Command Executive strategic decision-making;
\
* Build and sustain internal and external professional networks and collaborative working relationships, including with Whole of Australian Government counterparts;
\
* Ensure all financial and human resources are effectively directed to the achievement of team outcomes;
\
* Use extensive knowledge and expertise to guide, mentor and develop team leaders and members to ensure the sustainability of skills and knowledge in the AFP;
\
Requirements:
\
* Australian Citizenship;
\
* Demonstrated leadership and management experience, including the ability to manage specialists across multiple fields;
\
* Demonstrated experience of excellent stakeholder engagement skills in complex, politically and culturally sensitive settings;
\
* Policy experience, preferably foreign policy experience, in international development, national security and/or Whole of Australian Government strategic setting;
\
* A Negative Vetting 2 (Top Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one;
\
* Ability to undertake short term (2-6 weeks) international travel, sometimes at short notice;
\
Desirable Requirements:
\
* Educational qualifications and/or experience in a relevant field such as social sciences, anthropology, international development, international relations, gender, security studies, public policy management, diplomacy, policing and/or criminology;
\
* Experience working in regions outlined in the AFP's International Strategy 2020;
