This is an exciting new career for an experienced Systems Engineer, where your engineering expertise and leadership skills will see you providing design innovation and systems integration to support our Guided Missile Destroyer Combat System support Agent (DDG CSSA) engineering team in upgrading the RAN's capability on the Hobart Class DDG Destroyers. This role will work closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders across the whole engineering lifecycle, often acting as the main point of contact for project engineering of DDG upgrade aspects including liaison, coordination, and relationship management within the DDG Systems Program Office (DDGSPO) and other Enterprise partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and execute the requirements, design, verification and validation support to the assigned project. Apply advanced technical theories, methodologies, principles and expertise to provide innovative solutions across the systems engineering lifecycle, taking cognisance of cost and schedule constraints whilst ensuring adherence to processes.
* Lead and perform requirements definition and systems analysis to derive / develop system function, performance and interface requirements.
* Lead and perform system architecture and design activities to ensure that the system is compatible with the baselined product and is consistent across all subsystems and that the system design will meet the system level performance requirements.
* Lead, develop and maintain system level architecture and design documents as required.
* Plan, document and execute integration and verification activities.
* Estimation of effort to complete the project.
* Understand the systems engineering methodology, tools and procedures required to complete the systems engineering tasks assigned.
* Identify technical risks and provide accurate and timely information to project management related to progress status, risks and opportunities.
* Lead, initiate, recommend, develop or provide solutions.
* Liaise with Subject Matter Experts both within the CSSA and Raytheon and external customer stakeholders.
* Lead or play a significant role in major reviews throughout the lifecycle (including preliminary design review, detailed design review, and test readiness review) as well as other stakeholder meetings and reviews.
* Undertake travel as required, both within Australia, to fulfil the requirements of this role.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Qualifications and experience requirements include:
* Requires a Bachelor level Engineering degree (or equivalent)
* Requires 8 years prior relevant experience in a Systems Engineering and preferably Combat Systems Defence environment.
* Requires advanced to expert knowledge of Systems Engineering and experience in an engineering discipline including involvement in one or more of the following practices
* Requirements Definition
* Design Development
* Integration and Verification.
* Strong understanding and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
* Experience leading mid-sized projects and processes.
* Proven experience communicating with parties within and outside of own work area as well as parties external to the organisation (e.g. customers, vendors, etc.).
* Demonstrates a focus on delivering the best possible outcome and attends to all details required to deliver the right solutions at the right time and commitments are met on schedule.
* Consistent and unquestionable ethical conduct and discretion in all matters, interactions, and agreements with internal and external parties.
* Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at the National Veterans' Affairs eligibility page or equivalent.
