Empowering Financial Excellence at Commonwealth Bank
The Group Support Services Finance (GSSF) team within Operations Finance plays a pivotal role in partnering with senior leadership across various functions, including Financial Services, Property, Marketing, Strategy, Risk, Human Resources, and Legal.
This dynamic team manages the end-to-end finance functions for these businesses, collaborating closely with other Business Unit and Group finance teams throughout the organisation. The GSSF team oversees an annual P&L spend of $2.5 billion, with direct engagement/exposure to approximately 50% of the Bank's senior leadership team.
You will report directly to the Senior Manager, FS & Risk Finance. As a key member of the GSSF team, your primary objective will be to provide finance support to both business customers and internal finance teams, serving as their primary finance contacts.
In addition to providing exceptional finance support, you will work closely with Group and BU Finance teams to coordinate common deliverables across GSSF, ensuring seamless execution of month and year-end deliverables.
Making a Meaningful Impact
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Month End: Delivering accurate and timely month-end processing, reconciliations, and half/full-year results for the Financial Services and Risk Management portfolio.
2. Management Reporting: Successfully completing monthly submissions to Group Finance and reporting the monthly result to senior business stakeholders across the Financial Services and Risk Management portfolio.
3. Financial Control: Maintaining accuracy and attention to detail while continuously improving and maintaining a strong financial control environment.
4. Business Partnering: Collaborating with the core team to track performance and milestones, applying financial and accounting acumen to assist with decision-making, and engaging SMEs within Group Finance where required.
5. Decision Support: Reviewing balance sheet and P&L statements and constructively challenging assumptions where necessary.
We're Seeking Skilled Professionals Who Possess:
1. CA/CPA qualification.
2. Tertiary Qualifications – Hold a tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or an equivalent business-related discipline.
3. Experience in financial accounting and management accounting.
4. Commercial acumen and strong analytical skills.
5. High levels of motivation and resilience.
6. Excellent customer and continuous improvement focus.
7. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
8. Strong communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
9. High degree of competence in MS Excel.
