ABOUT THE TEAM & BRANCH

Legal & Assurance Branch (LAB) partners with business areas in the Department of Finance to provide high quality legal, governance and assurance services.

LAB comprises four core teams:

* Assurance & Risk
is responsible for enterprise risk management, internal and external audit liaison, assurance monitoring and business continuity. The team supports the Performance and Risk Committee of Executive Board and the independent Audit and Risk Committee.
* Public Law
is responsible for providing strategic legal advice on statutory interpretation; administrative law; employment law matters; FOI; strategic legal advice on information requests (including responding to third-party information requests and Royal Commissions); coordinating the privacy function; and legislation liaison.
* Commercial Law
is responsible for providing strategic commercial and corporate legal advice, drafting negotiating, dispute resolution across a wide range of activities of the department, including procurement, contracts (and memoranda of understanding), real property, intellectual property, and management of some commercial litigation.
* Integrity
is responsible for integrity framework and reporting, enterprise fraud and corruption control policies, public interest disclosures, conflict of interest management, and the Insider Threat Program.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Project Management Officer works with Assurance and Risk leaders and subject matter experts to formulate, plan, and deliver a range of projects across relevant disciplines – assurance, internal and external audit, enterprise risk management, and business continuity, among others.

The Project Management Officer is responsible for planning, prioritising, and delivering a range of competing priorities across numerous concurrent projects. The role is a key enabler of continuous improvements being realised, efficiency-creating initiatives, improving shared ways of working, and enabling the wider team and Branch to adopt and utilise the best available technology to deliver Assurance and Risk functions.

The role enables the effective operation of our Enterprise Risk Management Framework, Assurance Framework, and high-quality advice to senior leaders and decision makers across Finance.

In consultation with the Director, the Project Management Officer will –

* Provide advice on continuously improving frameworks, processes, products, and tools in use, ensuring they meet Department needs and reflect better practice.
* Develop and deliver a work program covering all Assurance and Risk functions, with a high degree of autonomy in scoping and delivering projects.
* Establish a reputation as a credible, trusted advisor, maintaining a responsive service that meets the needs of a range of stakeholders.
* Initiate and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Build a positive risk management and assurance culture through the delivery of key initiatives and building of collaborative partnerships.
* Consolidating a project management body of knowledge and resources.
* Undertake analysis to produce business insights for a range of settings.
* As needed, supervise junior staff to deliver routine and emergent priorities, building capability through coaching and mentoring.

, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
* Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
