Overview
In this role, you'll develop newsroom-ready content, shape compelling narratives, and support the delivery of PR strategies across education, skills, and industry-related initiatives.
You'll collaborate closely with internal communications, ministerial offices, legal, and production teams to ensure content is accurate, compliant, and aligned to government messaging.
Responsibilities
* Developing media angles and story concepts that appeal to TV, online and social newsrooms
* Crafting clear, engaging narratives for public-facing campaigns
* Preparing Video News Releases (VNRs) and newsroom-ready assets
* Coaching spokespeople (e.g., Ministers, CEOs) on strong sound bites
* Managing content approvals, timelines and distribution across media outlets
* Ensuring compliance with accessibility, brand and government communication standards
Qualifications
* 8-12+ years of experience in PR, communications, or journalism
* Strong understanding of the Australian media landscape
* Proven expertise in crafting media angles and securing newsroom pickup
* Experience producing or guiding newsroom-ready content/VNRs
* Excellent stakeholder management skills and confidence working with senior leaders
* Familiarity with government or public sector communications is a strong advantage
