Primary objective
Under the general direction of the Manager Supply Chain, the Supervisor Supply Chain has responsibility for management and supervision
of the Department of Corrections (DoC) stores services across the Central and Barkly regions including inventory management and the
purchase and supply of goods and services in accordance with the Financial Management Act, Procurement Act and department policies
and procedures.
Context statement
The position supports secure facilities that are operational 24/7 and in the case of emergency, additional hours may be required. The role
involves working with and supervising prisoners.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Inventory management and supervision of Stores across DoC in Alice Springs in accordance with NT Government legislation and
processes whilst ensuring the maintenance of an up-to-date and efficient Inventory Management System including products, vendors,
contracts, and financial data.
1. Coordinate advice, services, and reports to DoC staff in relation to Procurement Rules, Tier 1 and 2 procurement requirements,
inventory, and cost. Manage stakeholders and clients.
1. Manage the Alice Springs Stores team including recruitment, probation, training, supervision, and performance management.
2. In consultation with the Manager Supply Chain, ensure supply chain systems, procedures and practices are contemporary and meet
the business needs of DoC.
5. Ensure compliance against Work Health and Safety legislation, and safety standards around chemical handling, fire equipment, walkie
stacker operations, etc in a stores warehouse environment.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge and experience with computerised inventory management, financial and purchasing systems.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with purchasing and inventory management in a complex multifaceted services
environment.
3. Understanding or knowledge of the principles of procurement in a public or private environment.
4. Ability to undertake research and analysis, identify solutions, and produce clear and concise reports.
5. Teamwork commitment with evidence of good stakeholder management and the capacity and capability to work well with others and
independently.
6. Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to be adaptable and flexible, high levels of integrity, reliability, and confidentiality.
7. High levels of collaboration, proven ability to supervise and support a small team and to work effectively as a team member.
8. High level oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in procurement, contract management or relevant discipline.
2. Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations such as the Financial Management Act, Procurement Act and Work Health and Safety
(National Uniform Legislation) Act 2011, etc.
