The role
Salary: $81,267 pa + 12% super – incl. industry and uniform allowance (level 9) – with a 4.5% increase coming 1 July. 76‐hour fortnight. Location: Strathpine.
Responsibilities
- Identify restricted plants and environmental weeds across Council‐managed land and aquatic ecosystems, developing site‐specific management plans that target infestations while protecting native vegetation.
- Coordinate and manage contractors to deliver aquatic weed and pest plant treatment programs, monitoring performance, resolving issues and ensuring compliance with established targets.
- Undertake treatment of minor pest plant infestations across land and water bodies in accordance with WH&S requirements and best practice control methods.
- Lead investigations and respond to customer requests, while also providing expert advice to residents on pest plant management at community events and local shows.
- Support continuous improvement by reviewing new technologies and treatment methods, while ensuring compliance with environmental policies and proactively identifying and reporting risks and hazards.
Qualifications
- Proven knowledge of plant species, pest control methods and experience monitoring landscapes and contractor performance.
- Experience undertaking inspections in line with legislation and preparing risk assessments, with a strong commitment to protected work practices.
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with the public and work effectively in a team.
- Good digital skills and the ability to work autonomously, making sound decisions under limited supervision.
Additional Requirements
- Relevant qualification or industry experience in environmental or land management.
- Current ACDC licence, C‐class driver's licence and Construction Induction Card.
- Ability to obtain Tetanus and Q Fever vaccinations.
