EMA Advisory is expanding and seeking experienced consultants to support upcoming Federal Government and Defence programs.
We are building a pipeline of high-quality professionals across several consulting streams and are particularly interested in candidates who hold, or are eligible to obtain, NV1 or higher security clearance.
All roles are Canberra-based, reflecting the operational reality of most Defence and Commonwealth engagements.
Positions may be offered as:
* Subcontracting arrangements (hourly rate engagements)
Procurement & Commercial
Typical responsibilities:
* Develop and implement procurement and commercial strategies aligned with the CPRs and Defence policies
* Support complex approaches to market including RFTs, RFIs and multi-stage procurements
* Assist with tender evaluation processes and negotiation strategies
* Provide commercial advice across acquisition and sustainment programs
* Support development and management of ASDEFCON-based contracting environments
Typical responsibilities:
* Manage contracts across their full lifecycle including establishment, performance monitoring and variation management
* Support vendor governance frameworks and supplier performance management
* Assist Commonwealth clients with contract compliance and risk management
* Provide advice on contract administration within ASDEFCON and Commonwealth contracting frameworks
Project & Program Delivery (including Business Analysts)
Typical responsibilities:
* Support delivery of complex Defence and Federal Government programs
* Develop project artefacts including schedules, RAID logs, governance documentation and executive reporting
* Monitor scope, cost, schedule and risk across major programs
* Coordinate multi-stakeholder environments and manage dependencies across workstreams
* Prepare high-quality documentation for senior executive and SES-level stakeholders
Probity & Governance
Typical responsibilities:
* Provide probity advice across Commonwealth procurements and Defence acquisition activities
* Develop probity plans, evaluation frameworks and governance structures
* Support assurance activities including gate reviews and audit readiness
* Ensure compliance with CPRs, PGPA Act obligations and relevant Defence governance requirements
Specialist Roles
EMA is also seeking experienced professionals in specialist functions including:
* Finance Officer (Senior Consultant)
* Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Manager
* Commercial and Capability Analysts
These roles typically support large Defence capability or sustainment programs and may require familiarity with ASDEFCON frameworks and Defence acquisition processes.
Required Experience
Successful candidates will typically demonstrate:
* Security Clearance
* Experience working within the Department of Defence or broader Federal Government environment
* Understanding of Commonwealth governance frameworks including CPRs and PGPA Act
* Experience supporting complex programs such as ICT, capability acquisition, sustainment or infrastructure
* Familiarity with ASDEFCON contracting environments (highly regarded)
* Strong written communication and stakeholder engagement capability
* Ability to operate autonomously within client environments while representing EMA professionally
