About Australian Development Investments (ADI)Sarona manages Australia's AUD 250 million impact investment fund (ADI) under a 13-year mandate from DFAT, Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Building on the success of the Emerging Markets Impact Investment Fund (EMIIF) pilot, ADI mobilises private sector capital for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Indo-Pacific region to drive climate resilience and gender equality.
ADI provides early-stage and concessional investment and technical assistance to impact investment funds—including venture and early-stage capital funds, private debt funds, private equity funds, and non-bank financial institutions—which, in turn, provide critical financing to businesses that innovate, create jobs, and deliver essential goods and services to their communities.
Target Countries of ADI
Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam.
Pacific Countries.
About the RoleWe are seeking an Investment Manager to join Sarona's investment team, with a focus on Indonesia and the broader Indo-Pacific region.
This role will be based in Singapore or Indonesia and involves frequent travel between the two, regular travel across Southeast Asia, and occasional travel to Australia and Canada.
The Investment Manager will play a key execution role within the investment team — responsible for sourcing, assessing, structuring, and monitoring fund investments under ADI.
They will work closely with the Partner, Head of Investments, as well as with junior team members (Associates and Analysts) in a collaborative deal-team structure, providing coaching and guidance to help strengthen investment processes and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Source, screen, and assess fund investment opportunities in Indonesia and other Target Countries aligned with ADI's mandate.
Lead commercial and financial due diligence processes, while coordinating with Sarona's Impact and ESG teams for their respective assessments.
Lead, with supervision, the structuring, negotiation, and closing of investments.
Prepare investment proposals and present to Sarona senior management and the ADI Investment Committee.
Monitor fund and portfolio performance; engage with fund managers to identify value-add opportunities and manage risks.
Ensure other team members are consistently updated on pipeline and monitoring activities via Slack channels.
Keep Sarona systems (e.g., Salesforce and internal Excel databases) updated as needed.
Contribute to monthly dashboards and quarterly investor reporting.
Work in a deal-team structure with Associates and Analysts, ensuring effective coordination and execution.
Coach and mentor junior team members, supporting their professional growth and technical capabilities.
Share learnings across the investment team to strengthen collective execution capacity.
Conduct research on investment trends, fund structures, and climate finance developments in Indonesia and the Indo-Pacific region.
Build and maintain strong relationships with fund managers, co-investors, DFIs, and ecosystem partners.
Represent Sarona in meetings and relevant industry events.
Impact Integration & Cross-team Work
Collaborate with Sarona's dedicated Impact team to integrate gender and climate objectives into investment analysis and monitoring.
Support Impact team inputs into donor reporting and lessons-learned outputs.

Required Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in private equity, venture capital, and/or impact investing.
Proven track record in fund-of-funds investing and familiarity with fund structuring; direct investing experience is a plus.
Recent exposure to climate finance is a strong plus.
Demonstrated understanding of impact investing and development finance, ideally with experience in emerging markets.
Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to assess investment opportunities and interpret fund financials.
Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia (written and verbal).
Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
A strong team-player with experience working in a deal-team environment and engaging a range of stakeholders (e.g., DFIs, fund managers, ecosystem partners).
