About the Role
The Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) plays a critical part in supporting students with disabilities. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and the ability to manage programs, provide advice, and coordinate support services.
* Lead the Special Education and Early Childhood Development Programs.
* Advise classroom teachers on strategies for students with disabilities.
* Support school leadership and staff in planning and implementing reasonable adjustments.
* Coordinate targeted teaching and casework for students requiring significant adjustments.
* Manage human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources to achieve goals.
Responsibilities:
The HOSES will be responsible for:
1. Managing Special Education and Early Childhood Development Programs: Lead and coordinate these programs to ensure students receive the necessary support.
2. Providing Advice: Offer guidance to classroom teachers on strategies for students with disabilities.
3. School-Wide Systems: Implement systems to monitor and record data on students with disabilities.
4. Partnerships: Build relationships with parents, government agencies, and community groups to support students.
5. Resource Management: Oversee human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources to achieve goals.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A current Queensland Government employee.
* A Working with Children Clearance (blue card).
* Strong leadership skills and experience managing programs.
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff and stakeholders.
